Under The Long Island Sun: Sizzling Summer Trends That Are Turning Up The Heat This Season
Jul 25, 2017 01:55 PM Back
Summer is THE hottest seasons for saying “I Do”…and while it barely just began, it is essentially half over. But there seems to be NO fizzle to summer celebrations as summer trends continue to sizzle. Here are just a few you may fancy.
1. Tropical trends: Say goodbye to subtle colors and hello to vibrant hues like teal, green, and island-inspired palettes.
2. Masterpiece Moments: Straight from the likes of Masterpiece Theatre, couples are going BIG with celebrations that feature lots of fanfare including live performances by actors and costumed celebrations (befitting the theme).
3. Farm To Table Fetes: Al fresco dining is definitely on the menu this summer season with couples serving up some of the most fresh and fabulous organic, local fare prepared with some of the season’s hottest twists including lime and tequila sauces and lots of other refreshing ideas.
4. Outdoor Elegance and Activities: Besides music and dancing, couples are treating their guests to a host of outdoor activities. Think pool parties, mini golf, horseshoes, etc.
5. Raising the bar: Think beyond cocktails and serve up some sensational summer “refreshments” such as an ice-cream bar, Italian ice display, gelato, a variety of iced tea…etc.
6. Floral Accents: Brides are opting for floral accents including weaving baby’s breath and other flowers into their updos and braids.
7. Delicate Details: Fine china, lace tablecloths, etc…a return to elegance is oh-so-summer chic.
8. What’s “Old” Is New Again: Couples are looking to their parents and grandparents and to their heritage for inspiration and sentiment.
9. Healthy Alternatives: Couples are seeking out chefs who can dish out some couture cuisine including eggplant fries, zucchini pasta, and cauliflower rice as well as yogurt and fruit pops freshly made to taste.
10. Custom Keepsakes: Today’s newlyweds are opting to give guests personalized parting gifts. Think specialty brews of beer or wine customized and named for each couple or guest or a photo booth that transforms photos into a seemingly hand drawn “work of art”. Other options include customized CDs, movie packs, etc.
